Earlier I wrote about the depature of Yahoo’s Srinija Srinivasan. Yahoo’s lost another person, and another big figure in search, that of Tim Mayer. Tim just tweeted, as shown above, that he’s enjoying his first “post-Yahoo” day. Tweeted using the Twitter account I personally set up for him ages ago, I might add! Who Didn’t He Work [...] *** Read the full post by clicking on the headline above ***

While this development isn't likely to amuse everyone behind the BlackBerry Torch's launch, Apple fans may be glad to know that Microsoft acknowledged the iPhone's importance in a small way today, discussing the new Bing for Mobile iPhone app as it relates to shopping. This app is of course free, and the shopping section can be accessed just by clicking on "Shopping" from the homepage.  As for what it's supposed to do, the app is meant to provide a complete, start-to-finish shopping experience ...

Back in the mid-to-late 1990s, the most powerful person in search was arguably Yahoo’s Srinija Srinivasan. If Yahoo’s was the “gateway” to the web in the way some think Google is today, Srinivasan was the chief gatekeeper. And now after 15 years, she’s leaving Yahoo. Srinivasan was Yahoo’s “Ontological Yahoo,” among other titles including being a [...] *** Read the full post by clicking on the headline above ***

Engadget reports that Apple's Lala music team may be working on a video streaming product for a launch sometime this year, based on findings from CNET. Gizmodo discusses an Apple iOS exploit that gives ...

Microsoft has launched an update to the Bing Maps interface today aimed at improving readability and aesthetics. The new interface uses cool colors, which Bing says creates a more visually appealing backdrop, helping content "pop" on the map, and provides clear differentiation for pushpins, labels, and traffic overlays. There are new labels with larger fonts for major streets. This eliminates the need for bolding, and less attractive glows while allowing users to quickly find locations in a ...

Alex Chitu at Googler Operating System has spotted a new Google feature that should please a lot of users. This is likely more than just a test, because Google has information about the feature in its Help Center. It is probably just a matter of time until all users have the option. At this point, it looks like the only Google products that ...

Look around for link building advice and one of the most common pieces is to re-engineer the backlink profile of your competitors. The reasoning behind this is that if they’re ranking well (meaning above you, of course), they must be doing what Google likes, so why not copy it and see yourself shoot up in [...] *** Read the full post by clicking on the headline above ***
